Three more Palestinians killed by Israeli air strike

At least three Palestinians were killed before midnight Friday when Israeli warplanes struck a motorbike travelling in Gaza City, witnesses and medical sources said, Xinhua reported.

A three-year-old boy was among the dead, said Adham Abu Selmia, spokesman for the medical services.

A woman and two more bystanders were injured, he added.

Security sources said one of the dead was a militant from the Islamic Jihad movement.

This strike brought the number of Palestinians killed Friday to eight.

Another six Palestinians, including a military leader and three of his assistants, were killed Thursday in an air strike on a house in the southern city of Rafah.

Israel mounted its attacks in Gaza shortly after accusing Palestinian activists of taking part in deadly shootings and blasts in the Red Sea resort of Eilat in southern Israel on Thursday. Eight Israelis were killed in the attacks.

The Hamas movement, which rules the Gaza Strip, denied any involvement in the Eilat attacks. It said the attackers did not reach the area through Sinai, which borders Gaza and Eilat.

Ahmed Bahar, deputy speaker of the Hamas-dominated Palestinian Legislative Council, called on the international community, mainly Egypt and Turkey, to intervene and press Israel to stop its operations in Gaza.
