The Syrian Security Forces killed 20 people during the Friday demonstrations under the slogan "Friday of National Council", Al Jazeera reported.
Syrian Kurdish opposition figure Mishaal al-Tammo was also shot dead. Protesters demanded the resignation of President Bashar al-Assad. The demonstration symbolized a support to the previously formed National Transitional Council.
Mass protests in Syria began in mid March in Dera'a, in the country's south, then spreading to other regions. According to the UN, there are 3,600 people dead.
The opposition is demanding the resignation of Syria's President Asad and for political reforms. The regime's opponents formed a Transitional National Council as an oppositional body of power.
