Egypt's interim president Adly Mansour has promoted army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sissi to the rank of Field Marshall, the highest in the country's armed forces, the presidency said Monday.
Many in Egypt have been urging al-Sissi, who announced the ouster of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi, to run for president, dpa reported.
