(dpa) - A 2-year-old boy survived a fall from the eighth storey of a residential building in Japan, a newspaper reported Monday.

The boy suffered a broken leg but did not lose consciousness in the fall Sunday night in Osaka, Asahi Shimbun said.

The boy was bathing with his father, was the first out of the tub and went on his own on the balcony. He was believed to have climbed up on a trash can before falling over the railing 25 metres to the ground.

His fall was broken when he crashed through a 5-metre-high tree before landing on a bush, the newspaper said.
