After winning the Queen of the Beach tournament, on Sunday Sandra Pires accepted the invitation to continue to play with Larissa, Xinhua reported.
The duo will play together during the 2009 Brazilian beach volleyball circuit. If Sunday's performance is any indication as to how the team will play, then they will be close to unbeatable.
By beating out Maria Elisa and Carolina 2-1, Sandra Pires and Larissa were crowned the Queens of the beach, winning the weekend long tournament on the sands of Rio de Janeiro.
The individual scores were 21-18, 19-21 and 17-15. Due to their success, Larissa extended an invitation out to Pires to form a team with the goal of winning the Brazilian beach volleyball circuit.
"It will be a pleasure to play along side Larissa. She has a great personality and always encourages her teammate. I will do my best to make the new partnership thrive," said the three-time winner of the Queen of the Beach, Sandra Pires.
Pires agreed to partner up with Larissa throughout the first two rounds of the Brazilian circuit. The athlete is considering moving to the United States to play professional beach volleyball. Larissa then plans to return to her long-time teammate, Juliana, who continues her physical therapy to recover from a torn ligament in her right knee.
