The Labor Union of Truckers of Argentina sent 18 tons of food to the Palestinian territory of Gaza Strip, President of the Islamic Center in Argentina Samir Salech said on Sunday.

In a statement published by local press, Salech said apart from the above-mentioned amount, 22 more tons of food will be sent to Gaza, where 22 days of Israeli military operation had left over 1,000 people dead and thousands of others injured before a ceasefire was reached on Jan. 18.

He said the food aid includes "canned tomatoes, sugar and powder milk", Xinhua reported.

The extra aid will be sent on Monday by planes from the Argentine Aerial Force (FAA) to the Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Fucks, president of the governmental organization Cascos Blancos (White Helmets) of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, announced that "a group of Argentine surgeons are to work in the hospital Khan Junis in Gaza soon."
