A separatist group of Pakistan on Monday denied the reports regarding killing of the abducted UN official John Solecki, saying he is still alive, Xinhua reported.
Solecki, head of the office of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in southwestern Pakistan's Quetta city, was kidnapped and his driver was shot dead after his vehicle was ambushed on Feb. 2.
But unknown persons made phone calls to Quetta Press Club on Monday and claimed that Solecki has been killed and his body will be found after two hours.
However, a spokesman of the separatist group Balochistan Liberation United Front (BLUF) told reporters that rumors are false alarm and Solecki is still alive and absolutely fine.
The BLUF had claimed responsibility for the abduction.
Earlier, a UNCHR spokesman did not confirm the report of killing, but said it might be a hoax call.
