Afghan President Hamid Karzai would introduce his new cabinet to Wolsi Jirga, or the Lower House of Parliament, before its winter recess on Dec. 6, spokesman of Presidential Palace said on Tuesday. "The new cabinet is to be announced and introduced to Parliament before it goes for winter vocation," Humayun Hamidzada told reporters in a routine press briefing.
Karzai was declared the winner of the fraud-marred presidential election on Nov. 2 just one day after his main challenger and former foreign minister Abdullah Abdulla quitted the runoff.
The Afghan leader is under pressure at home and abroad to crack down on corrupt elements and bring new faces in new cabinet to allay the concerns of international community over the alleged mismanagement of funds contributed for the rebuilding of Afghanistan.
Karzai, who has been leading Afghanistan since the collapse of Taliban regime over the past eight years, formally took the office for the second five-years after he was sworn in on Nov. 19.
