Russia calls for new post-Cold War peace pact
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Saturday that Europe needed a new post-Cold War peace pact, reported dpa.
Too many current alliances, he said, without specifically naming NATO, are still oriented towards Cold War battles, without taking into account current international relations. He said he envisioned a broader defence alliance, even including China.
"Europe needs a peace pact that would resolutely leave behind the Cold War era," he said. "The time has come for network diplomacy, based on non-bloc principles."
Such a new alliance would guarantee "equal and indivisible security for all," Lavrov added.
