US, South Korea complete emergency plan against North Korea
US and South Korean forces announced Sunday they had developed a joint emergency plan in case of a military "provocation" by North Korea, dpa reported.
The plan allows their joint forces to conduct an "immediate and decisive reaction to any North Korean provocation," the announcement said.
The plan was developed after North Korea's November 2010 artillery attack on the South Korean island of Yeonpyeong, the US Forces in Korea reported.
Details of the plan were no provided.
Tensions have been high on the Korean peninsula since North Korea carried out its third nuclear test in February and issued threats against the South and the United States.
