Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 5
By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:
Terrorists of YPG (People’s Protection Units) and PYD (Democratic Union Party) will use weapons of the US against Iran and Turkey, the country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, the Turkish media reported Dec. 5.
Washington promised that after the militants of the “Islamic State” (IS) terrorist group are killed, the US will seize its weapons from the YPG and PYD detachments, but it didn’t happen, Erdogan noted.
“At present, there are practically no IS militants left in Syria, but for some reason the US continues to arm the Syrian wing of YPG and PYD,” Erdogan said.
He noted that the US actions don’t correspond to the spirit of alliance between Ankara and Washington.
Syria has been suffering from an armed conflict since March 2011, which, according to the UN, has claimed more than 500,000 lives.
Militants from various armed groups are confronting the Syrian government troops. The “Islamic State”, the YPG and the PYD are the most active terrorist groups in Syria.
