Klaus-Dieter Fritsche, the state secretary of Germany's Interior Ministry, recently came together with officials from Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MİT) to discuss cooperation to combat the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) Today`s Zaman reported.

According to reports, Fritsche met with officials from MİT and the Turkish Interior Ministry last week in the Turkish capital of Ankara. The recent killings of three women with links to the PKK in Paris was one of the topics at the meeting, reports said.

Sakine Cansız, one of the slain women and reportedly a PKK co-founder, had been living in Germany and was not extradited to Turkey despite Ankara's demands.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has frequently criticized Germany for not doing enough to prevent the PKK's fundraising activities and recruitment efforts in the country.

Germany has also been a target of criticism for housing some 30,000 PKK sympathizers and not deporting PKK terrorists living in Germany.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU, has waged a bloody campaign for self-rule in predominantly Kurdish southeastern Anatolia since 1984. More than 40,000 people, including civilians and security forces, have been killed in clashes with the terrorist group.
