By Anastasia Savchenko - Trend:

Turkey’s MELET ENERJI ELEKTRIK ÜRETIM VE TIC. A.Ş company will build hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) in the country, Trend reports referring to Turkish media.

The hydroelectric power plants will be built in Turkey's Ordu and Sivas provinces.

“The total capacity of HPPs will be 10 megawatts. The project has not received the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) conclusion yet," the report read.

Earlier, ex-Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Berat Albayrak said that Turkey plans to invest $1 billion to the development of renewable energy sources in the country.

The construction of new power plants will increase Turkey’s energy security, Albayrak added.
