The volume of transshipment of goods from Spain across the ports of Turkey surpassed 1.3 million tons in January 2021, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Feb.24.
According to the ministry, in the reporting month, ships flying the Turkish flag handled 155,385 tons of cargo from Spain, and those ones flying the flags of other countries – over 1.1 million tons.
Meanwhile, no cargo was handled by ships flying the Spanish flag, and 262,626 tons of cargo from Spain were transited via Turkish ports.
In January 2021, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to over 29.1 million tons, including more than 2.5 million tons by ships flying the Turkish flag.
During the reporting month, 6.04 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.
Besides, according to the ministry, in 2020, the volume of cargo movement through the Turkish ports amounted to 365.4 million tons. Some 29.6 million tons of cargo were handled by ships flying the Turkish flag, and 335.7 million tons – by ships flying the flags of other countries.
Over the past year, more than 72.4 million tons of cargo had been transited through the ports of Turkey, added the ministry.
