Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan discussed a range of bilateral issues, Avesta.Tj reported Aug. 29 referring to the Kyrgyz government.

Following the 13th meeting of the Tajik-Kyrgyz intergovernmental commission for comprehensive consideration of bilateral issues in Bishkek, the sides signed the protocol, according to the government's statement. The meeting was co-chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim and Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Abdurahman Mamataliev.

The signed protocol said that some of the tasks agreed in the protocol of the previous meeting were not fulfilled. The commission instructed the involved ministries and agencies to continue work on fulfillment of the previously given tasks.

The commission also suggested continuing the work of interdepartmental working groups for prompt and timely consideration and resolution of the issues related to use of water resources. The commission has recommended the countries to strictly abide by the established limits of water distribution for Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Tajikistan proposed to expedite signing of the amendments to the respective protocol of 2004 designating international status to the Karamyk border crossing point.

The commission also ordered to expand bilateral ties between Tajikistan's Sughd province, Murgab, Jergetal districts and Kyrgyzstan's Osh and Batken provinces.

Relevant authorities were asked to enhance cooperation in the health care and social sectors.

The next meeting of the commission will be held in Tajikistan.
