Turkey’s DAL Teknik Makina company has completed the implementation of the project worth $35.8 million to increase the capacity of a cement plant in Uzbekistan’s Jizzakh region, the Uzbek Economy Ministry said in a message July 28.

Almalyk Mining-Metallurgical Complex JSC commissioned a cement plant worth $114.2 million in 2014 in Uzbekistan’s Jizzakh region.

The project was financed by the Almalyk complex in the amount of $40 million and the loan of Uzbekistan Reconstruction and Development Fund in the amount of $114.2 million.

The enterprise’s projected capacity was 350,000 tons of white cement or 760,000 tons of Portland cement per year. DAL Teknik Makina was the general contractor.

Commissioning of the cement plant allowed fully meeting the Almalyk complex’s needs in cement, as well as to export a part of its production.

The Almalyk complex began to expand the plant in 2015. The project was financed by Uzbekistan Reconstruction and Development Fund in the amount of $14 million, by Almalyk complex ($9 million) and the loan of Uzbekistan’s Mortgage Bank in the amount of $12.8 million.

As a result, the plant’s capacity on Portland cement production rose by 31.6 percent – to one million tons.

The plant produced 510,400 tons of cement in 2015. It is planned to produce up to 650,000 tons of products in 2016.
