Georgian Football Federation has sent an official letter to FIFA President Joseph Blatter with regard to the desire of self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia to hold official international football matches.

Georgian Football Federation has sent an official letter to FIFA President Joseph Blatter with regard to the desire of self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia to hold official international football matches.

The Georgian side completely eliminates the occurrence of the Georgian region - Abkhazia within the jurisdiction of FIFA and the participation of national team of the region in the international matches under the auspices of FIFA.

The GFF received an official response on Wednesday from the FIFA general secretary Zheroma Valka, which states that FIFA hasn't received official statement from Abkhazia to hold international matches.

However, the letter notes that the case of Kosovo, to which the Abkhaz side is often appealing, is totally different and can't be an example for an identical solution of FIFA
"Football Federation of Georgia welcomes the position of the leading member of the football family with regard to this matter and hopes that these illegal demands of Abkhazia as an integral part of the region of Georgia, will not be fixed," GFF says.
