Scandinavian communication operator’s sales in Azerbaijani market decreases

In nine months of 2013, sales of TeliaSonera in Azerbaijani market fell by 2.9 per cent compared with the same period of 2012, according to the company's report for January-September.

According to the report, the net proceeds from the sales of the company fell by 84,000 Swedish kronor (SEK) - from 2,950 million SEK to 2,866 million SEK.

In the third quarter the volume of the company's sales in local currency increased by 1.9 per cent (from 982,000 SEK to 1,001 million SEK).

Over nine months, TeliaSonera's net sales in local currency, excluding acquisitions, increased by 1.5 per cent. This indicator was 5.4 per cent in July- September.

The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA margin), which characterizes the profitability of the business, decreased from 50.2 per cent to 49.1 per cent in Azerbaijan in the nine months of 2013, compared to the same period of 2012.

Fintur Holdings B.V., 74 per cent of which belongs to TeliaSonera, has a stake in Azercell, a mobile network operator in Azerbaijan.

The official exchange rate for Oct. 18 is 0.1224 AZN/SEK.
