Top Azerbaijani official: Some circles trying to politicize European Games in every way
Baku, Azerbaijan, June 11
By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:
Some circles are trying in every way to politicize the European Games, and the consequences of this will be felt not only by Azerbaijan, but also by the entire sports community of Europe, said the Azerbaijani president's aide for public and political affairs, Ali Hasanov.
He made the remarks June 11, at a press conference on the European Games, held with participation of the local and foreign journalists.
Hasanov said that recently, the forces, that see Azerbaijan's independent policy from their subjective positions, have formed such an anti-Azerbaijani platform and are carrying out anti-Azerbaijani activity in a systematic order.
"We are seeing this in the activity of individual international organizations and tolerate this," he said. "We are trying to go forward being led by our free will, and are trying to convey to the world that Azerbaijan is on the right path."
"This is a path built on relations within mutual interests with Europe, on conducting a civilized and independent policy in the region, and we don't intend to abandon it," Hasanov further said.
"We are disappointed with this anti-Azerbaijan campaign and urge those circles to abort it before it's too late," he said.
The press conference is being held on the instruction of Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev.
