Italian company Versace does not have any plans on starting a production project in Nagorno-Karabakh and never had such plans, an official letter from the company's management sent as a response to the letter of Azerbaijani Embassy in Italy said, the diplomatic mission told Trend.

"Following reports of Armenian media outlets about the company's plans on starting production in the Nagorno-Karabakh region occupied by Armenia, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Italy contacted the Versace which said it does not produce any clothing or accessories in this region and does not have plans on starting such production there in the future," the diplomatic mission said.

Earlier, Armenian media outlets reported that the Italian company Versace is going to open a production complex in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the U.S. are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
