Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / The Chairman of Azerbaijan Parliament's administration, Safa Mirzayev, reported to Trend that commissions may be established under the district election commissions in Azerbaijan to answer the complaints.
Discussions are held between the Government of Azerbaijan and Venice Commission to make amendments and annexes to the Electoral Code of Azerbaijan. The political parties will also be invited to the next discussions in Baku.
Mirzayev said that the new proposals made by the Government to the Venice Commission envisage establishing professional commissions to consider the complaints. According to the proposals, commissions should be established under the district election commissions to operatively consider the complaints during the elections.
Mirzayev added that if the proposals are realized, professionals especially lawyers, will be involved in the commissions. As he continued their decision, however, will not be concluding and the complaints will also be considered by the election commissions. "However, if the election commissions trust on the professionalism of the assessment commissions, they will make decisions," he said.
The members of the complaint commissions will be appointed by the Central Election Commission. Mirzayev said that it needs to use the existing potential and train new staffs in order to appoint professional people to the commissions.
According to Mirzayev, the new commissions will be established by the 2008 Presidential elections in Azerbaijan.
