Azerbaijani Capitan to Serve Two Months Sentence in   Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia / The Poti Court sentenced the Azerbaijani Capitan of the Jezabel 2 vessel swimming under the Cambodian flag, Mammad Huseynov, and his assistance the Russian citizen, Vladimir Trostnakov, to two months of imprisonment.

Badri Pochkhua, the representative of the coastal command of the Frontier Police of Georgia, said the Court satisfied the petition of investigation bodies. "Both of the arrested persons were responsible for the vessel," Pochkhua said.

Georgian frontiers detained the Jezabel 2 vessel swimming under the Cambodian flag in the Black Sea. The Georgian frontiers detained the vessel due to violation of water space of Georgia in the Ochamchira port.

Frontiers revealed 1,800 tons of coal in the vessel. The vessel was sent to the Sochi port, Russia. Georgia informed Russian frontiers about the vessel; however, the Cambodian vessel changed its course from Sochi to Turkey.

As a result of special operation the Jezabel 2 vessel was detained by Georgian frontiers in the Russian economic zone in compliance with all international norms of navigation. There were 14 people in the board, seven Azerbaijanis, six Ukrainian and the Capitan from Russia.

The sentence made against the Capitan and his assistance may be toughening. The Customs Service of Georgia may lodge additional accusations against the Capitan and his assistance, Pochkhua said.

The Capitan of the vessel may be sentenced to three or five years in prison and the crew from two to five years. The goods detained in the vessel would be seized and the owner of the vessel to be fined in 50,000 lari.
