Heydar Aliyev Foundation to jointly with UNPF Carry Out a Project of Fight against Woman Violence

Azerbaijan, Baku, 16 January /corr. Trend S.Agayeva / The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in co-operation with the United Nations Population Fund(UNPF), will carry out a project to fight against the women violence. On 16 Jan, the Project on Fighting against Woman's Violation in the 21st century was signed by Mehriban Aliyeva -the President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Good-Will Ambassador of the UNESCO and ISESCO, Bruno Pueza- the UN Resident-Co-ordinator and Hijran Huseynova - the Chair of Azerbaijan's State Committee for Families, Women and Children.

The ten months project envisages- enlightening the women of their rights. Special attention will be paid to the Azerbaijan's regions like Ganja, Lenkoran, Nakchivan, as well as the certain villages of Baku. A structure is being planned -to be established within the project, to help the women suffering from violence.

" Azerbaijan is rich with the family traditions where special respect is paid to the women, but like all countries worldwide, there are facts of violence against them as well," said the President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Good-Will Ambassador of the UNESCO and ISESCO, Mehriban Aliyeva.

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation priorities includes: resolving the social problems in the country as well as assists in developing the culture, health and education in Azerbaijan, she stated.

The official statistics provided by the Chair of the State Committee for Families, Women and Children also testify violence against the women. According to the data, 3241 such facts have been registered in the country in the past ten months only.
