Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 February / corr. Trend K. Zarbaliyeva/ On 28 Feb, the Court of Sabail district of Baku sentenced Patrick O'Brian- a 49 year old Great Britain citizen, to three month of imprisonment, accused of attempting to rape on his young nephew and niece.
O'Brian, native of Britain, was searched on the international level and was arrested on 26 February as a result of the joint operation by British and Azerbaijani law enforcement bodies in Baku, the Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan said.
"O'Brian is accused of the crime that he committed when he was only 19," Fikret Novruzov, the lawyer of the British citizen said to Trend . According to lawyer, the crime was revealed last year.
The accused refused to give evidence in the trial that was presided over by the judge Araz Huseynov. The Embassy of Great Britain in Azerbaijan has appealed for the extradition of the accused, the judge of Huseynov said Trend .
According to the lawyer of the accused, O'Brian is one the directors of the foreign companies in Baku, but the name of the company is not disclosed.
