Bush Emphasizes Firmness of His Position on Ukraine and Georgia Joining MAP (video)

Ukraine, Kiev 1 April /corr. Trend Z.Novozotviski / The U.S. President, George Bush, stated that his position on supporting the NATO Membership Action Plan for Ukraine and Georgia remains firm.

During the joint conference with the President of Ukraine, Victor Yushenka, in Kiev, George Bush stated that he and his team worked with all NATO participating countries and convinced them that Ukraine and Georgia's entrance to the Alliance is useful firstly for NATO members.

Bush once again confirmed the position of the USA regarding supporting Ukraine in joining the MAP. In addition, Bush stated that Russia has no right to protest against Ukraine and Georgia joining the MAP. According to him, today the existence of several Russian flags in Kiev cannot assume great importance.

In his turn, the President of Ukraine, Victor Yushenka, once again said that Ukraine joining the MAP is not a policy against anyone. "We look after our national interests," Yushenko said. According to him, he would not like the discussions on this issue to form a new division.
