Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 June / Trend corr. E.Babayev / Annagi Mammadli, the lawyer of Musa Rahim, a member of Imishli region-based organization of Azerbaijani National Independent Party (ANIP) stated that the appeal by Rahim was not approved in the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan.
Rahim was arrested in 2007 and has been accused on the Article 221.3 and 315.1 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Rahim was sentenced to five years of imprisonment.
The lawyer said that the sitting of the court chaired by judge Vidadi Hashimov did not approve the appeal and retained the decision made by the Appeal Court of Shirvan region on 16 January 2008. Mammadli believes that the decision made by the court violates the legislation and he would make a court appeal to the European Court
ANIP was the first party received registration in Azerbaijan in 1992. Etibar Mammadov had been the founder and chairman of the party by 2004. Presently, Mammadov is the deputy chairman of the International Democratic Alliance.
