Azerbaijan, Baku, 23 July / Trend corr. J.Babayeva / The former format of the Consultative Council of the Azerbaijani opposition parties may be restored. "If the Consultative Council will invite the Green Party of Azerbaijan to join the organization, then the last will not refuse as it supports union,' Mais Gulaliyev, Chairman of the Green Party, told Trend on 23 July.

Consultative Council of Azerbaijani opposition parties was established in 1997. At present, the Council unites the Democratic Party, Musavat, Azerbaijani National Independent Party and the Public Forum For the name of Azerbaijan. The former member Taraggi party left the Council as it took a decision to support the candidate from the ruling party in the upcoming presidential elections. Green Party has appealed to the Council twice. However, the structure considered unacceptable acceptance of other political parties into the organization.

"Council will invite the Green Party with certain conditions. If these conditions will meet party's ideology and activity, then these conditions will be accepted,' Gulaliyev said.

Nazim Alaskarov, the Organizational Secretary of the Azerbaijani National Independent Party (ANIP), told Trend that the Green Party did not appeal to ANIP to join the Council. "Perhaps, the Green Party appealed to concrete persons, represented in the Council,' Askarov said.

The next meeting of the Council will be held in the ANIP headquarters.
