Azerbaijan’s Interior Ministry Holds Collective Meeting

Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 July / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / Azerbaijan's Interior Ministry held a collective meeting on results of the first half of 2008.

Ministry reported to Trend on 25 July that Minister Ramil Usubov, speaking at the meeting, informed the participants of the arrangements carried out against crime in the country and of the state of criminality.

Usubov said Azerbaijan takes the last place among CIS countries in the crime rate per each 100,000 people..

Minister said the number of such crimes as calculated homicide, deliberate serious damage to one's health, rape and hijacking has dramatically dropped as compared to previous years, and such crimes as kidnapping were not registered at all.

Vilayat Eyvazov, the Deputy Internal Minister, speaking at the meeting, said that most calculated homicide took place in the first quarter of 2008.

Eyvazov stated that non-fulfilled orders by the Internal Ministry, unrevealed grave crimes and organized crimes were included into shortcomings in the developed report.
