Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 October / Trend corr. A.Huseynbala / If results of the presidential elections are falsified, the Azerbaijani opposition Great Establishment Party (GEP) will publicize a joint statement of leadership of the party on this matter.
"If results of the elections are not falsified, we will get necessary support of voters," Fazil Gazanfaroglu, the presidential candidate and chairman of the GEP, said at a news conference, which was dedicated to results of the propaganda campaign.
The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on 15 October. Seven candidates will take part in the elections, including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of ruling New Azerbaijan Party; Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party; Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party; Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party; Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party; Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.
Gazanfaroglu said that if outcome of the presidential elections is falsified, they will not hold mass protest actions.
"We do not have opportunities to hold protest actions. We struggle with the authorities not physically, but intellectually," the GEP chairman said.
The presidential candidate did not exclude serious changes in activity of the party after the elections: "We will turn the Great Establishment Party into one of three strongest political organizations within a year after the presidential elections. The whole society will witness our power in the municipal elections of 2009 and the parliamentary elections of 2010," Gazanfaroglu said.
According to Gazanfaroglu, the society should elect the opposition, which will be able to replace the authorities: "We claim it. Perhaps, we will not replace the authorities in these elections. However, the society has such a social order and the Great Establishment Party will achieve this objective soon," Gazanfaroglu said.
