Azerbaijan’s Ruling Party Reveals Political Forces Boycotting Elections Attempt to Undermine Vote

Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 October/ Trend . Corr A. Huseynbala/ Over 5,000 observers from ruling New Azerbaijan Party registered by the Central Election Commission are observing the presidential vote.

NAP observers say the vote began at 08:00a.m. local time, in time stipulated by in the election legislation with a considerable activity of the voters, press service of NAP said to Trend .

No irregularities occurred in polling station for the first four hours of voting. 


However, despite this, NAP observers have revealed reports that representatives and observers of some political forces, especially those who boycott elections, are engaged in activities not indicated by the legislation which aim at hindering work of Precinct Election Commissions.

According to reports, a group of 13 people from the forces boycotting elections, set up by Election Monitoring Center (which lacks state registration) to observe voting in Constituency Election Commission 82  and 83 of Agjabadi region, have issued a statement.

The authors of the statement say the organization ordered them to draw up a fake protocol about serious irregularities in the vote and to paralyze work of Precinct Election Commissions while international observer are there.

A of total of seven candidates run for presidency including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of Ruling New Azerbaijan Party, Igbal Agazade, chairman opposition Umid (Hope) Party, Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party, Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party, Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party, Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.
