Azerbaijan, Baku, 30 October / Trend corr. I.Alizade / The Azerbaijani Parliament is prepared to cooperate with the Venice Commission to develop a new bill on Political parties.
"The Venice Commission has a great experience in this field and assessed laws of many countries. Therefore, if we develop the Azerbaijani Law on Political parties again, we will apply to the Venice Commission," Latif Huseynov, the head of the Azerbaijani Parliament's Department on Legislation for State Establishment and Azerbaijani representative at the Venice Commission, told Trend on 30 October.
The Azerbaijani Law on Political parties was adopted at the beginning of 1990s. Both the authorities and opposition believe that there is a need for a new law. Sergey Kuznetsov, the chairman of the Council of Europe Venice Commission, said that his organization expects proposals from Azerbaijan to inject changes into the Law on Political parties.
There appears a need to change some laws as views in the society change, Huseynov said. Therefore, it is not excluded that new Law on Political parties will be adopted.
