As many as 188 Iranian MPs voted against, 45 - for and 4 abstained.

Interior Minister of Iran Avazali Kordan has begun to present a report to the Supreme Religious Council [Parliament] of Iran. After Kordan was introduced to the parliament as a candidate to the post of interior minister, some MPs said that his Ph.D diploma was false. As many as 28 MPs collected signatures to demand Kordan to make a report.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad assessed demand for Kordan to make a report in the parliament as a negative case and said he will not take part in this process. He described demand for Kordan to present a report as illegal.

Kordan was nominated to the post of interior minister four months ago. He took over the office from Mustafa Purmuhammadi, chairman of the State Control Organization of Iran.

In July, Iranian President introduced the Parliament his list of candidates to the post of minister of economy, interior minister and minister of transport. Kordan is also well known as a person close to the speaker of the Iranian parliament Ali Larijani. He acted as financial representative of the State Television to the parliament. Kordon became the 10th dismissed minister at the Iranian Cabinet of Ministers, approved by Ahmadinejad.
