Russia Experiencing Domestic Nationalism: Irina Khakamada

Kazakhstan, Astana, 12 November / Trend corr. K.Konirova/ Russia is experiencing domestic nationalism regarding election of a president, Irina Khakamada, said at a press conference in Astana on 12 November.

"Obama's victory in the United States is a phenomenon. Russia is far away from that. The United States reached this after 200-300 years," she said.

Khakamada believes victory of a representative of another nationality in the presidential elections in Russia is unreal. Therefore, in Russia "it is difficult for a woman to become president, and it is quite impossible for a non-Russian women".

"Starovoytova, may she rest in peace, used to say to me "Irina, you are so smart and you are ready to become a president. But as a liberal you cannot do that with your Japanese blood".
