Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 November / Trend , corr. A.Huseynbala/The decision to restore the activity of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) was taken at the meeting of the Supreme Assembly of the Classical Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (CPFPA).
"A resistance organization of all public and political agencies is needed to prevent any serious pressure on Azerbaijan due to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," Zalimkhan Mammadli, the chairman of the Supreme Assembly of CPFPA, said to Trend on 17 November.
NRM was established by the initiative of ex-President Abulfaz Elchibay. The movement united different parties, public organizations and intellectuals. The organization's key goal was to defend Nagorno-Karabakh from outside threats and to reach democratic changes in the country.
In March 2006, CPFPA held a meeting. Before, the party pretended to the name of Popular Front party of Azerbaijan and was known as Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) 'classics'. Mirmahmud Miraligolu, the former deputy chairman of PFPA, and Elchibay was the chairman of 'classics' after the split of the party in 2000. In 2006, the party was renamed in CPFPA.
According to Mammadli, the talks dedicated to restoration of the activity of NRM were instructed to Mehriban Vazir. "A single document will be adopted after discussions," Mammadli said.
