Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb. 5 / Trend , N.Kirtzkhalia/
Georgian deputy foreign ministers Alexander Nalbandov and David Jalaganiya discussed the future activities of international organizations in Georgia with foreign ambassadors and diplomats in the country.
The meeting focused on several issues, including the current situation in Abkhazia and Tzkhinvali, the Foreign Ministry reported. Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Namig Aliyev was also invited to the meeting. The guests comprised the ambassadors of Italy, UK, Armenia, Iran, Turkey, Romania, Hungary, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Israel, China, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and the Netherlands.
Georgian officials said Russia is attempting to legitimize separatist regimes in Sukhumi and Tzkhinvali on an international level.
The participants said such steps will fail as the international community recognizes Georgian integrity and sovereignty. The world does not accept actions contradicting accepted principles, the ministry reported.
Georgian officials said they unambiguously support international organizations continuing their activities in the country. Georgia is holding intensive negotiations with its partners on the matter.
At the same time, negotiations are complicated as Russia seeks to limit the activities of international organizations in Georgia, especially in the country's occupied territories, the ministry reported.
During the meeting, the parties examined topical issues of bilateral cooperation, including holding consultations between the Georgian Foreign Ministry and foreign ministries of other countries.
