Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb. 10/ Trend N. Kirtzkhalia/ Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili visited Samtred region where he took part in opening of a new railway bridge.
The construction of the railway bridge over Rioni River, 99 kilometer line Batumi-Samtredia, began in 2006. Georgian Railway OJSC spent 22 million lari on the construction. 283 meters bridge is situated in 41 meter height of water level. It was built over the river near Dapnari village.
Khidmsheni JSC built the bridge projected by Georgian designers. It has no analogues for capacity in Caucasus.
Only Georgian people managed to construct such a bridge in post-soviet area after Russia and Ukrainia, Saakashvili said. "It is difficult to take pride in such crisis period. But on the other hand we managed to build this bridge while most nations failed. It is a sign of proud," he said.
The President was informed that the Georgian specialists got an order for construction of bridges in Turkmenistan.
