Georgia,Tbilisi, Feb. 16 / Trend , N.Kirtzkhalia/

Official Tbilisi hopes the visa regime between Georgia and Ukraine will not be reconsidered.

"Ukraine's statement was motivated by the criminal situation in the country. However, we do not think the situation is so critical that it necessitates a visa regime," Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister David Jalaganiya said at a briefing on Feb. 16.

"Of course, we will hold consultations with Ukraine. We hope the situation will be resolved after the meeting," Jalaganiya said.

Ukraine's Interior Ministry urged the government to apply a visa regime to Georgia and Moldova.

It is necessary to take this step to end ethnic criminal groups in Ukraine, Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko said.
