Georgia, Tbilisi, March 5 / Trend , corr. N.Kirtskhalia / The European Union will never recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, said the European Commissioner, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, after the meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nikoloz Gilauri.

She also commented on Russia's violation of the airspace of Georgia, and stated that the EU recognizes territorial integrity of Georgia.

"Unfortunately, similar incidents again occur. It is good that the Geneva format continues. I consider that this is the format, with the aid of which we must find solution of the conflict. Again I want to note that we do not intend to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia and support the territorial integrity of Georgia," said Ferrero-Waldner.
