Introduction of single window principle in migration processes management has great importance for faster management on the basis of working mechanisms, efficiency and removing problems waiting for their settlement in this sphere, Arzu Rahimov, head of the state migration service said at the meeting in honor of its 2-year establishment on March 19.
The Azerbaijani President signed the decree on use of single window principle in migration processes management on March 4, 2009.
The decree envisages improvement of mechanism of migration processes management, timely granting of corresponding permissions for living and work activity of foreigners and people without citizenship arriving in Azerbaijan legally, simplification of their registration, as well as ensuring of clarity in this sphere.
As Azerbaijan is located at the intersection of transport ways having world importance, transit flow of migrants through the territory is inevitable, Rahimov said.
"The principal thing is to prevent illegal settlement of these migrants in the country, as well as illegal migrants' use of the country's territory to transit the third country," Rahimov said.
Roughly 18,574 appeals have been received since August 2008 about term prolongation of foreigners and people without citizenship in the country, issue of permission for temporary living, getting immigrant status, adoption, restoration and expulsion from citizenship, as well as determination of citizenship and refugee status, head of the service said.
Some changes have been made in existing legislation. Terms of staying of foreigners and people without citizenship in the country's territory have been determined. Documents for temporary and permanent living of foreigners and people without citizenship in Azerbaijan have been approved. Registration system of foreigners has been improved. Responsibility for migration legislation violation has been raised, Rahimov said.
