Water supply breaks in Tashkent

Temporary breaks in water supply are expected in Tashkent during a month from April 1 to May 1, the state unitary enterprise trust Suvsoz (water channel) officially said. Vecherni Tashkent newspaper published this statement. 
 "Reduction of water pressure and temporary lack of water supply will be observed regarding prophylactic operations in Tashkent's water supply. Repair- prophylactic operations and preparation to spring-summer period will be conducted in flumes and water supply of Tashkent during April. Water pressure will reduce in several regions. There will be lack of cold water in other regions. Water carriers will be directed to these places," the message said. 
Suvsoz is one of the biggest communal enterprises in Tashkent. Suvsoz's major task is to provide uninterrupted qualitative drinkable water supply, as well as cleaning of sewage. The trust comprises water fence facilities, water distributing centers, pump stations, flumes, drainage treatment facilities and swap stations.  
According to Suvsoz, residents and guests of Tashkent get to 2.5 million cubic meters of drinkable water daily. 
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development allocated loan in the amount of $10 million to improve three Tashkent water fence facilities, construction of pump station and flume in 2004. Moreover, Japanese specialists attracted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) conduct research operations to prepare priority investment projects to improve Tashkent's water supply system for further attraction of Japanese banks' investments.
