Normalization of Turkey-Armenia ties meet interests of all regional countries: Turkish president

Normalization of the Turkey-Armenia diplomatic ties is a positive factor for the entire region, TRT-2 television channel quoted Turkish President Abdullah Gul as saying.

"This move will meet interests of all regional countries including Azerbaijan," Gul said.

Ankara and Baku still maintain high-level relations. Reports about undermined relations between the two countries are untrue, president said.

"Media reports claiming that Turkey-Azerbaijan relations have been undermined are untrue. Turkey-Azerbaijan relations face no problems," Gul said.

Turkey-Armenia border has been closed since 1993. Turkey offers Armenia to surrender policy of international recognition of the so-called Armenian genocide and resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in a bid to normalize bilateral ties.

Armenia says the country is ready to establish diplomatic ties with Turkey without any precondition. Agreement has been reached on five items during talks in Switzerland, Sabah reported.
