Int'l organizations urge Georgian government, opposition urged not to interrupt citizen's daily life

Heads of the EU member states, European Commission mission and EU special representative on South Caucasus Peter Semnebi have issued a joint statement on ongoing developments in Georgia.

"EU member states and European Commission closely watches ongoing processes in Georgia. The EU member states and European Commission once again confirm that freedom of assembly is one of the fundamental rights of citizens in a democratic country. We recommend opposition and authorities to ensure exercising of this right by peaceful and secure ways. At the same time, the activities of institutes and daily life of citizens must not be interrupted. We once again call on sides to be guided with country's legislation and standards of peaceful assembly. The EU member states and the European Commission urges all sides to get involved in constructive talks in an effort to prevent chances of failure of implementation of democratic reforms. We confirm readiness to support all positive steps which will be made to ensure democracy and rule of law," the statement said.
