Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili believes that the country needs a strong and effective presidential power. "For me personally it is not very important, because it is my last presidential term, but my experience testifies to it," Saakashvili said during the meeting with parliamentary majority in the Kakheti region.

"We also need a strong parliament and a strong and impartial trial. In this regard, there is a problem, but we are going the right way to make the court independent and strong," he said, urging everybody to work together to improve the Constitution.

The Georgian president also highlighted the need for unbiased and fair elections. "We must learn to hold an election and accept its outcome, because, whatever we had them, there still will be groups who will lose and not recognize their results," Saakashvili said.

The president stressed that if they hold preterm elections under these circumstances, the country will lose time, money and will not receive investment. "I won the presidential election with double advantage from my opponent, but in Serbia, one politician has won the other with 0.5 percent and he acknowledged his defeat. There was not fraud in most election, even if it is so whether someone might believe that they throw 500 000 ballots. This is unreal," he said.

Saakashvili proposed to adopt a new electoral code, and then to hold the 2010 local elections and see how it will work. "Of course, elections are the solution to the crisis, but when it's done simply for the sake of elections, which did not yield, it is certainly not way out," he said.

The President stressed that "today Georgia does not need blood, but consolidation and unity." "Then we will solve all problems, including the occupation," he said.
