Azerbaijan, Baku, May 20 / Trend , J.Babayeva/
The Azerbaijan Social Democrat Party (ASDP) criticized the left forces' idea to hold the republican forum.
"Although the parties represented in the forum's organization committee have been formed for a long time, they have not achieved anything. Their forum idea is unreasonable," ASDP Co-chairman Araz Alizade told Trend on May 20.
Azerbaijani some left-wing parties intend to hold the republican forum in autumn 2009. The organization committee of the forum comprises Azerbaijan People's Socialist Party, Communist Party, Marxism-Leninism Communist Party and Democratic Left Party.
The ASDP co-chairman said the forum's organizers invited him to the event. "I told them I do not want to take part in the forum. I am not interested in the forum organizer's opinions in which he does not regard the ASDP as a real political force," Alizade said.
SDPA is a left-wing opposition party.
Araz Alizade and former Azerbaijani President Ayaz Mutallibov co-founded the party.
Mutallibov was elected Azerbaijan's first president shortly after the country gained independence in 1992. Later a lawsuit was filed against him. He has lived in Russia since 1992.
