Russia-EU relations are of strategic nature, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said and added that he is satisfied with results of the Russia-EU summit in Khabarovsk RIA Novosti reported.
"Today there is no doubts about strategic nature of the Russia-EU partnership," Russian President said at a press conference on results of Russia-EU summit in Khabarovsk.
"Such partnership allows to repulse most complicated threats and address most difficult problems including financial and economic crisis. We will further develop economic relations, fight international terrorism, transnational crime and resist other threats to development of humanity," Medvedev said.
He said an exchange of views was conducted on unresolved conflicts at the summit.
"These are Cyprus and Kosovo and security in the Caucasus, conflict among Georgia, South Ossetia and Abkhazia. We talked about situation in Moldova and discussed the Middle East problem, Iran's nuclear program and situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan," he said.
"It was a frank and constructive discussion. It is very gratifying and important to resolve the situation" he said.
Medvedev admitted that the parties' positions diverge on some issues. At the same time it does not harm the dialogue and enables to find constructive ways out of the controversy, he said.
Medvedev expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the summit.
"I am satisfied with results of our joint work," he said.
