"Fourteen members of the UN Security Council unequivocally supported Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty at the meeting on May 27," Georgia Foreign Ministry said.
The Foreign Ministry said the statement by Russian permanent representative to the UN Churkin does not include anything new.
"Since the UN's inception, Russia is using this organization for its own propaganda and to delude international community. The same happened yesterday when the permanent representative of Russia to the UN once again circulated a misinformation claiming that Georgia continues to deploy armed forces near the administrative borders of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The entire international community is aware that this statement is absolutely untrue. The EU and OSCE Observation Mission in Georgia have the opportunity to check the situation in the regions adjacent to the occupied territories of Georgia. Moreover, Georgian Interior Ministry and EU Observation Mission has signed additional memorandum which stressed the respect for the Georgian principles of transparency and accountability once again," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The statement also said Georgia wants to see a strong UN mission in the occupied territories which will have a strong monitoring and policing functions and which can establish order, rule of law and peace and protect human rights in these regions, which will contribute to Georgia's de-occupation.
