At the meeting of the PACE Monitoring Committee held in the summer session of the organization, there was addressed the issue of newly adopted law on NGOs in Azerbaijan. This information was providede to Trend at the secretariat of the Assembly. During the meeting there was sounded an idea to apply to Venice Commission to conduct a legal review. With regard to differences of opinion on this matter, it is anticipated that this issue will be discussed at the next meeting of the Monitoring Committee on Wednesday.
It should also be noted that at a meeting of the Monitoring Committee there was also discussed the preparation of a progress report on Azerbaijan.
