Azerbaijan, Baku, July 10/ Trend , A.Huseynbala /

The opposition party of Azerbaijan plans to hold a picket in front of the Chinese embassy in Baku.

"The action will be held to protest against the numerous victims and dispersion of Uighur Turks by the armed forces of China, press secretary of Azerbaijan National Independence Party Ali Orujov told Trend .

The riots occurred in the administrative center of the city of Urumqi on Sunday evening. According to eyewitnesses, the fighting involved burning shops and cars. According to recent data provided by local law-enforcement agencies, the incident caused death of 156 people and 816 injured civilian casualties. As formerly reported, the protesters in Urumqi expressed dissatisfaction with the recent deaths of two Uighurs in clashes of workers in toy factory in Guangdong province.

According to Orujov, at today's meeting, the secretariat of the party discussed the situation in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region of China. "As a result of discussions it was decided to hold a picket in front of the Chinese embassy in Azerbaijan," he said.

Regardless of consent of the Baku Executive Power, we intend to hold a protest action, he said. "We believe that other political and public organizations who protest against the events in China will support our action," said Orujov.
