The First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, AzerTAj state news agency reported.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation hosted the presentation of award on September 14.
Ambassador of Poland to Azerbaijan Krzysztof Krajewski said that President Lech Kaczynski awarded Mehriban Aliyeva the order for her merits in the development of friendly relations between Poland and Azerbaijan.
Noting that the activities of the First Lady of Azerbaijan are well known in Poland, the diplomat said that the activities of the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva are an example for everyone. Krzysztof Krajewski praised the five-year activity of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Later, the diplomat presented to Mehriban Aliyeva the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.
Mehriban Aliyeva thanked the President of Poland for the appreciation of her work and said that it is honor for her to be awarded this Order.
Remembering the history of friendly relations between the two countries and peoples, the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation said that after re-gaining independence, the relations became more actively developing in various spheres.
Mehriban Aliyeva noted that the mutual visits of state leaders play an important role in the development of Azerbaijan-Poland relations.
Poland's support was appreciated for Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the construction of rural school Sarygamish in Samukh region.
