Azerbaijan, Baku, November 9 / Trend , R.Hafizoglu /
Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir did not attend the meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (İSEDAK) of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) at the request of official Ankara, said an independent Turkish analyst Mustafa Ozjan.
"The President of Sudan has postponed his visit to Turkey at the request of Ankara," said Ozjan told Trend by telephone from Ankara on Nov. 9.
Today Turkey hosts the meeting of İSEDAK. It is attended by heads of several states. The meeting was expected to be attended by Omar al-Bashir as well, but he was unable to attend the meeting due to some problems arising in Sudan.
Inviting the President of Sudan to the İSEDAK meeting, who is accused of killing more than 300 people during the armed clashes between local rebels and government forces in the southern province of Dar Fur, has caused serious dissatisfaction in Europe. The International Criminal Court issued an order on al-Bashir's arrest on accusations of crimes in the Sudanese province of Dar Fur.
Commenting on Sudanese President's visit to Istanbul, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that this visit takes place within the OIC, and nobody prevents al-Bashir's visit to the country. In addition, the Prime Minister said that the events in Dar Fur are investigated, and they are not genocide.
Despite the decision to arrest, the Sudanese President quietly moves over African countries, said Ozjan. He said not withstanding the pressure of European countries, Ankara met their demands.
